Junior CIT program: 16 year old returning campers enrolled for five or more weeks are eligible for our Junior CIT program: campers spend 1/2 their day in an apprenticeship to staffpeople, and 1/2 their day as a camper. Junior CITs are given some counselor-like responsibilities, and receive some time off on campus. Tuition is discounted an additional 10%.
Full CIT program: 17 year old returning campers enrolled for five or more weeks are eligible for our Full CIT program: campers spend 1/2 their day in advanced apprenticeships to staffpeople, and 1/2 their day as a camper. Full CITs are given many responsibilities similar to those of counselors, and receive time off on campus. Tuition is discounted an additional 20%.
The full season is seven weeks long, attended by up to 130 campers and run by a staff of 45. About half of our campers each summer stay at camp for the seven weeks; occasionally we have campers who will stay for the theatre workshop as well, a total of nine weeks.
Although the three week and four week programs are very similar, we do not repeat any musicals or theatrical productions, so theatre-intensive campers have the opportunity to audition for a whole new set of shows at the beginning of the three weeks.
The seven weeks allows for a lot of flexibility; campers can experiment with different programs during two sessions, or simply keep a prolonged focus in a few activity areas, building their skills and projects, and building a strong relationship with their teachers.
Our summer ends with a special two-week session, attended by up to 30 campers and run by a staff of 20-25.
This 'theatre-workshop' has a very different design than the previous seven weeks; campers participate in a structured theatre-intensive program which includes seminar-style classes in many aspects of theatre craft, a very focused scene workshop in which each camper will participate in several Shakespeare and musical theatre scenes (performed at the end of the two weeks).
We also produce one act plays with campers wanting even more theatre. Campers also have two hours of elective time per day in which most of our major program areas are available (horseback riding is not available during the workshop).
After dinner, campers and staff gather for rehearsal of the full-camp chorus, one of the most exciting parts of this unique and intense workshop program.
Limited to 16 or 17 year old returning campers, the counselor in training program is a special skill-building program for campers serious about applying for junior counselor positions.
Campers in this program devote half of their day to an apprenticeship in an activity area of their choice, participate in a leadership program lead by an experienced staffmember, gain experience supervising younger campers in the cabin areas and dining hall, and learn to provide a positive role model for all of our campers.
We offer a challenging and exciting counselor training program.
Our summer starts with a four week session, attended by up to 130 campers and run by a staff of 45.
The session begins with a two-and-a-half day orientation in which each camper gets to meet with each instructor and discuss his or her interests. Theatre and voice auditions also occur during this orientation.
The four weeks is a fun and busy session, with talent shows, musicals, one act plays, full-length theatrical productions, a rock-n-roll band night, movie nights, art exhibitions, daily radio shows and much more!
Our second session of the summer is three weeks long, attended by up to 130 campers and run by a staff of 45.
About half of the campers in the second session have already been at camp for four weeks.
The session begins with a day-and-a-half day orientation in which each camper gets to meet with each instructor and discuss his or her interests. Theatre and voice auditions also occur during this orientation.
The three week session is as activity-packed as our first session, with talent shows, musicals, one act plays, full-length theatrical productions, a rock-n-roll band night, movie nights, art exhibitions, daily radio shows and much more!
